Located in the lee of the Southern Alps, Queenstown can be cold in winter with an average high-temperature of 7.8°C (46°F) and an average low-temperature of -1.7°C (28.9°F), July is the coldest month. Though it rarely snows in town, it will get icy cold during autumn and winter.

Summer + Spring
It is a good idea to wear two layers (one warm) and bring a waterproof option. Sunblock and sturdy walking shoes are a must. Pack light, but warm. Also, pack wool socks and waterproof boots or shoes, waterproof jackets and pants to keep dry.
Winter + Autumn
Wind and waterproof gear are essential through these months! A warm jacket that can handle the snow. Wrap up with a beanie and gloves, and don’t forget merino socks are a nice treat to keep the feet warm!
